
It’s not hard imagining John Regal staring out the window of his office, lost in a reverie of thought, when all of sudden he grabs the nearest piece of paper and a pen and starts writing furiously. That’s how it works in the movies, anyway, when the visionary man hits upon his latest great idea. And while it may not work exactly like that for John, this much we do know: For the last 20 years he has been a sort of business savant. He has launched an array of profitable products from cell phones to pomegranate juice. And now as CMO at Ziosk, Regal continues to spot market trends far ahead of the curve.
The Ultimate Game Platform
For example, Regal’s latest venture turns some of basic marketing assumptions on their head. The common assumption is that a mother and child respond to different types of marketing methods.
Adults and children learn about new products differently and their social circles and spheres of influence are quite different too.
Nevertheless, he suggests that if you can find a way to reach both the mother and child simultaneously, the effectiveness of your marketing will skyrocket. “While this is very difficult, a mother who sees her child enjoying a product is more likely to buy that product,” he says.
Which is where Ziosk comes in. Ziosk is a 7” tabletop device that provides a way for games to reach multiple audiences at the same time. When a restaurant installs the Ziosk on each of its tables, guests can electronically order food and drinks, pay their checks on demand and—more to the point—play games throughout the dining experience. “The Ziosk is the ultimate discovery vehicle for games,” says Regal. “The Ziosk Media Network has a very large reach of 4+ million people per month, and that audience not only learns about new games, they get to play them. It is also easy for developers to place their games on our network as the Ziosk is running Android 4.0.”
Ziosk is growing quickly. “As the Ziosk Media Network grows from 4 million to 100 million guests per month, it will become the ultimate game platform,” Regal predicts. “Ziosk will enable one-third of America to play games while they are dining out with friends and family.”
While that may seem like a bold forecast, consider that John has been right many times before. Never underestimate a visionary man with a great idea.
