About Gamesauce
Gamesauce.org
Gamesauce.org is all about putting the people of our industry out front. We leave the business talk, sales numbers and analytics to others. We want to be the voice of the coder, the developer, the marketer, the all-nighter-pulling crunch-guy. We want to help others get to know you–what drives you, what makes you successful at your job, what (besides caffeine) keeps you going hour after hour, year after year.
Most of all, we want to tell your story. We want to hear your anecdotes and wisdom, your lessons learned and secret tricks, and we want to share those tales with other. What’s your story? Share it through Gamesauce.
Gamesauce Magazine
The Gamesauce Magazine is for those who have already discovered the great secret about making games: it’s fun, it’s cool and you get paid to do it.
Gamesauce is intended to get you to stop doing for a few minutes so that you might spend a little time thinking. Thinking about your place and your purpose and your passion. Thinking about your various opportunities to make a lasting impact on others. Thinking about some bigger questions than “Where are we going for lunch today?”
Questions like these:
1. How can I make my job, my team, my studio better? How can I make all my other developer friends wish they worked here?
2. What can I do to create positive change in the industry? Is there some way that I can make a difference for all of us? Am I going to continue to whine about the crap I don’t like or am I willing to do something to make things better?
3. Is there a way I can use this freaking awesome job to influence the broader social conversation? Or for that matter, what can I put into my next game that will somehow change the world-view of the people who play it?
The Gamesauce Magazine is distributed to over 25,000 industry professionals, with 38% residing outside of North America.
Meet the staff
| Jessica Tams is not only the publisher of Gamesauce, but is also the Managing Director of the Casual Games Association (www.casualgamesassociation.org), an international organization committed to serving the needs of the professional casual gaming industry.
Jessica has also held development, publishing and distribution positions inside the casual games industry. Before working in casual games distribution, Jessica was responsible for internally developed PC download and Web Games and the externally published Launch Xbox LIVE Arcade Titles at Oberon Media’s Seattle Studio which included creation of the studio, hiring the team and managing the projects. Jessica spent five years working as a Software Engineer in Retail PC and Xbox console development on Dungeon Siege and Gabriel Knight III. |

| Jake Simpson Jake has been making games for longer than it’s actually possible to have been making games. So when he tells you he was personally involved in the making Eliza, just nod, buy him another beer, and then edge away slowly. He’s had a hand in everything from Midway Arcade games to MMOs and virtual worlds, with some stops at PC gaming along the way. Although recently he deserted and went to try his hand making CG movies instead, it was probably just so he could get chicks. |

| Peter Watkins has been working with the Casual Games Association since 2006 as editor for the Casual Connect Magazine and now Gamesauce Magazine. Peter’s other job is at a highbrow marketing agency. |

| Vlad Micu is currently in charge of the European coverage for Gamesauce and manages Gamesauce.org. Getting into the game biz during his college years, Vlad has traveled the world working as a freelance game journalist, consultant, producer, researcher and event manager through his own company VGVisionary. |

| Catherine Quinton is the proofreader for Gamesauce Magazine. Previously she was a museum curator and teacher. |

| Gaurav Mathur has been a game developer for the past fourteen years at companies including LucasArts, Double Fine, and Factor 5. He is a Senior Artist at Toys for Bob and the Creative Director for Gamesauce Magazine. Gaurav started www.gamedevmap.com five years ago as a way to give back to the game development community he loves being a part of. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, son, and their four cats. |

| Shirin Ardakani has worked as a graphic designer for over ten years. She has a passion for editorial design and enthusiasm for the power of “design thinking”. When she joined the Gamesauce team, she hadn’t played a videogame since Sonic the Hedgehog. The first one. She has yet to pick up a controller again, but her admiration for the folks who create feisty characters like Sonic has grown by body spinning leaps and bounds. |

| Cathy Simpson has a background in elementary education with a degree in curriculum and instruction. She brings her organizational skills and attention to detail to her role as Content Manager for the Gamesauce brand. She lives in Arizona with their two wonderful children and her husband Jake’s monster of a dog. |
